Blessings in Disguise
Proverbs 16:9
“In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.”
The last couple months have been a whirlwind of events for us. It all started in August when within a week several things broke in our house, it seemed like our list of things to either repair, replace, or return was endless. Our last straw was when our car broke and we spent all kinds of money getting it “repaired.” Well, not really repaired as we found out only a week after we paid the bill. So we decided with much fear and trembling on my part and then much prayer to purchase a new car. We were led to the right car, the right dealer, the right price and the right monthly payment. We bought our first new car a Black 2005 Corolla.
A couple weeks after that we celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary at Disney, it was wonderful! When we returned from our two day escapade, we got a certified letter in the mail. A notice to vacate our apartment in one month. When Steven called me at work with the news I couldn’t believe it. Where do we go? What do we do? But again the hand of God orchestrated our steps and that same day I made an appointment to see the apartment we moved in a week ago. Our meeting with the land lady that Saturday was a success. We applied, were approved and once again the price, location and timing were perfect.
I love this verse in Proverbs. When Steven and I got married we decided the car we owned, would last for at least another 5 years, our desire was to buy a home before we had to replace the car. We also swore we would never move into a more expensive apartment, since paying rent is for all practical purposes like throwing your money out the window. But here we are making (small) car payments each month and living in a more expensive apartment.
Yesterday I decided to blog about this and go public with my gratitude. We love our little black car and our one bedroom is a dream! Steven and I are young, healthy and have jobs that we love. For whatever reason the Lord has brought these unexpected expenses to our lives but with that HE has also brought the means to provide for them. A few other times in our marriage we have been puzzled at how different our plans are from the Lord’s. But at the end of the day I look around and I see that we have been very blessed and for that we are deeply grateful.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, those who have been called according to his purpose.”
