I used to be into digital painting with a Wacom Tablet and I enjoyed it, a lot. I haven’t painted anything in almost five years though. Reason being is that my eyes are tired at the end of the day from staring at a monitor. That and I don’t want to spend my whole life INSIDE. So, I’m going to take up photography as a hobby. I’ve always liked photography. I took a photography class in High School that I hated and almost failed (gave up trying to get time in the overcrowded dark room). The class was horrible, but I discovered how much fun photography was taking black and white shots with my dad’s old camera.
Sudi says it’s never too early for a birthday present, so my Canon S2 IS is in the mail.
It’s a 5-megapixel digital camera with 12X optical zoom. I should be able to take 300+ photos at the highest resolution/quality (small posters) with a 1 GB memory card. It can record 640×480 VGA video with stereo sound at 30fps which is fun too.
Some things I want to capture:
- Little Suzie
- Dolphins (I’ve seen them in La Jolla a couple times)
- Seals in La Jolla (here’s a baby seal shot with my old camera)
- Sail boats off of Point Loma
- Birds (many types of birds in San Diego… Mission Bay)
- The Cross on Mount Helix (from our balcony, with that 12X zoom)
- Beach and sunset shots in La Jolla and Del Mar
- Maybe some Ferarris in La Jolla too
I’ll setup sudste.com photo gallery sometime soon.

Our family cat is no longer with us. We’ll miss him. He was the friendliest (and fattest) cat in the world. He was probably also the most famous cat on the Internet. Countless people from all over the world watched Tiger every day on my brother’s TigerCAM. If you’ve never met Tiger, view Tiger’s Photo Gallery.
One of Tiger’s fans from Brazil says, “To balance the loss, my cat has just gave birth to a new kitten yesterday at about the same time tiger died. If he is a male, surely will be called Tigrinho, which is Portuguese for little tiger.”
That’s too bad, because I’m almost done with The Last Battle. I almost don’t want to finish because I enjoy them so much. If I had to pick a favorite I’d probably end up listing five of the seven books. I’ll give some other CS Lewis fiction a try next. Sudi has The Screwtape Letters which is supposed to be really good.
Who among us has never wondered if there might not really be a tempter sitting on our shoulders or dogging our steps? C.S. Lewis dispels all doubts. In The Screwtape Letters, one of his bestselling works, we are made privy to the instructional correspondence between a senior demon, Screwtape, and his wannabe diabolical nephew Wormwood. As mentor, Screwtape coaches Wormwood in the finer points, tempting his “patient” away from God.
There is also his lesser known Space Trilogy (written in the 40’s) which doesn’t interest me as much as Narnia did but it is supposed to be good and I’ll probably give it a shot.

"I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."
Genesis 12
