Recipe: Low Fat Vegan Chocolate Protein Shake

Posted by Steven in General on April 24th, 2006 at 02:34pm

This is a simple but delicous drink I came up with. Perfect for vegans wanting to make sure they get enough protein (or lactose intolerants craving a yummy shake).

4 Ice Cubes
1/3 Cup NaturadeĀ® Veg Protein Booster (Natural Flavor)
1 1/2 Cup SilkĀ® Lite Chocolate Soy Milk

Blend until ice cubes are crushed. Serve immediately. Makes one tall glass with only 3.75g fat (try that, McDonalds!), a whopping 31.5g protein and 45% daily value of calcium.

So next time some meathead asks you where you get your protein from as a vegetarian, you tell them you drink Steve’s ChocoShakes (or send them here)!

Blessed Is The Nation Whose God is The Lord (Psalm 33:12)

Posted by Steven in General on April 10th, 2006 at 02:48pm

Sudi e-mailed this to me and I just have to blog about it, being that The United States of America is currently in a state of denial and consequently falling apart at its moral seams.

“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible” –George Washington

“That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests” –Andrew Jackson

“I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book. But for it we could not know right from wrong” –Abraham Lincoln

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.” –Thomas Jefferson

“The spirit of man is more important than mere physical strength, and the spiritual fiber of a nation than its wealth. The Bible is endorsed by the ages. Our civilization is built upon its words. In no other book is there such a collection of inspired wisdom, reality, and hope.” –Dwight Eisenhower

“Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties; write its precepts on your hearts and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this book we are indebted for the progress made, and to this we must look as our guide in the future.” — Ulysses S. Grant

35,000 Bibles Delivered

Posted by Steven in Books & Movies, Church, General, Places on April 8th, 2006 at 05:45pm

Today was the day! Our church met for breakfast and then sent 1,700 volunteers out to deliver 35,000 Bibles and Easter service invitations to every household in El Cajon. We were assigned 36 homes on Primrose Drive.

It was a really awesome experience for us. About 80% received the Bible and Easter invitation with enthusiasm. We ran into a few “sometimes” church attenders (one that attends SMCC occasionally) that I think may just need a little extra nudge toward Jesus, and I think that our visit followed by Pastor Jeremiah’s message on Easter may be “it” for them! It seemed like everybody had a dog of some type, but it was no problem. ;)

We ran into three or four Christians attending other churches. One of them attends Journey Church and was very kind to offer us water as we were leaving and wish us luck. It was nice to know we had fellow Christians on the “battlefield” rooting us on.

We saw a couple other fellow teams out delivering Bibles while we made our exit. We also saw Bibles hanging on many doors all over the neighborhood. It’s awesome to realize that every home in a city of 100,000 now has a Bible and invitation to our church! When I multiply our experience by the other 1700 volunteers I know without a doubt that this event will have a HUGE impact and many will come to know Jesus (sooner or later) because of it!

We thank God for this opportunity to serve. Pastor John Gillette was an awesome leader and his team did an amazing job coordinating everything. It was quite a task to organize the teams and their destinations along with all the Bible bagging work and meal preparation.
