The Signs Of Life
Our church just embarked in The Forty Days of The Signs Of Life. The campaign is meant to be like a mirror showing us all how we’re doing as Christians. We are going to learn what the signs of a vibrant Christian faith are. Our pastor, David Jeremiah wrote a book with 40 daily readings for us to study for the next 40 days, the reading began yesterday. Steven and I loved it, it’s very practical and biblically sound. Church was so much fun, you could feel the buzz and the excitement.
The Five Signs of Life are:
Dusty Shoes: Living a Relevant Life
Worn-Out Kness: Living a Yielded Life
Rolled Up Sleeves: Living an Authentic Life
Open Hands: Living a Generous Life
Outstretched Arms: Living a Compassionate Life
As a way to apply Open Hands, on March 24th we are going to give an Extreme Makeover to the Logan Elementry School campus in Down Town SD. Last night at church we had the kick off for this event. The school principal, teachers and staff were all there. Pastor St. John and Pastor Gillette have this massive event coordinated and computerized. There is something to do for everyone, furniture assembly, gardening, carpentry, landscaping, painting, banner making, administration, clean up, set up and tear down.
Pastor said, people have been asking him, “Why are you doing this?” and he tells them, “Because this is what Jesus would have us do, give and give and give to people we don’t know and to people who can’t give us nothing in return”.
Pastor Gillette asked Steven to take care of the photography, so that will be his primary responsibility. Another volunteer will be video-taping the before and after. When all the hard work is done we will celebrate with a huge picnic/concert where our church and the school staff, parents and children will all meet. WE CAN NOT WAIT!
God Is GOOD!
