Thanksgiving Snow Video

Posted by Steven in Fun, Holidays, Home, Photography, Video on December 29th, 2007 at 12:39pm

It snowed here on Thanksgiving this year. I put together a little video to show the family and friends back in San Diego what snow looks like. I had to ask Sudi, who has lived in Minnesnowta, if it was snowing because I wasn’t entirely sure what snow falling from the sky looked like. The Fort Worth area is only supposed to get one inch of snow per year. I think that might have been it.

Deer in Benbrook on Christmas Eve

Posted by Steven in Holidays, Home on December 24th, 2007 at 05:18pm

On Thanksgiving we had snow. On Christmas Eve, on the way home from church, we spotted some deer down the road from our apartment. Six of them staring at us! It reminded me of seeing dolphins in La Jolla. There’s something amazing about seeing animals in the wild and seeing them on Christmas Eve was as special as Thanksgiving snow. Benbrook is really growing on me.

Christmas Is All About Him

Revelation Song by Kari Jobe

Worthy is the, Lamb who was slain
Holy, Holy, is He
Sing a new song, to him who sits on
Heaven’s mercy seat

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and glory and power be
to You the only wise King

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of Kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You

Filled with wonder, awestruck wonder
At the mention of your name
Jesus your name is power
Breath, and living water
Such a marvelous mystery
Yeah…

From all of us at the Gliebe Home (Texas Division), we wish you a Merry Christmas!

I love students

Posted by Sudi in Artwork, Family, Fun, General, Seminary on December 15th, 2007 at 08:41am

A couple years ago Steven got the domain ilovestudents.com for me to use on a school project. I ended up never using it. This semester in one of my classes I was asked to write a Teacher Training Manual (hardcopy), and we had the brilliant idea of making it a Teacher Training Online Resource instead (using the domain name). Its a manual for college ministry lay leaders. I wrote the content and Steven turned it into a beautiful website! Notice the ABOUT section. And YES, I got an A!

Seminary Life

Posted by Sudi in Seminary on December 13th, 2007 at 12:52pm

Yesterday I completed by first semester as a Seminarian.

When Steven and I moved here we knew I was going to attend a great Seminary. But I have to say that my experience far exceeded what I thought this would be like. My search for the “right” school was very long and painful. I can’t even begin to count all the schools I inquired about and how many I found dissapointing.

There are two things, very valuable things, I learned during that search. One is that I wasn’t going to be happy unless the education I received was Christ-centered. I could not justify spending time and money on classes that weren’t closely related to my Christian faith. Two is that I am not a distance learner. I love the classrom, I thrive in it. I really enjoy the interaction with professors. The whole process of learning is very energizing. I learned a lot in all of my classes.

Lets face it, I am an absolute nerd! I love school!

A few highlights from this whirlwind semester:

Chapels Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Steven came to Chapel with me on Wednesdays and we were so blessed. The worship, the orchestra, the messages, they all blew me away. My very favorite speaker was Jim Cymbala. Other favotites, Pastor Tommy Green from Florida and Dr. Allen!

I took a class on the book of 1st Corinthians, I read a huge commentary on it and read the actual book 10+ times. It was an indepth study and I will never see 1 Corinthians the same way. I gained a new appreciation for the apostle Paul. He was a great man of God. Dr. Schatzmann, my professor, brilliant!

Hermeneutics was my favorite class. Very funny, because I was kind of dreading it. It was my hardest class. I have never worked so hard in my life. I learned a ton! Part of what made the class so great is that there were 60 of us in it, so there was a lot of energy in there. A few of my classmates, Merrie, Jason, David and Matthew always asked great questions. I sat between Beau and Kelly in the first row and we developed a nice friendship. Dr. Caldwell is a genius with a superb sense of humor. We were in stitches the whole time.

Lastly, Steven and I really appreciate our president Paige Patterson. We not only love his theology 100% but we respect him because he truly is a man of God. A hard core evangelist-preacher with a huge heart for God and the lost.

It was a great semester thanks to God who is the Giver of all good gifts, and thanks to my angel husband who made it all possible with his hard work.

I am truly blessed!

I logged into Flickr to see if it was time to renew our Pro account and found this message.

“You have a Pro account, at no cost as long as you keep your AT&T Yahoo! service.”

I’ll take it! ;)

2. Huckabee (13.8%)
3. McCain (13.7%)
4. Thompson (13.2%)
5. Romney (10.7%)
6. Paul (4.7%)

Mike Huckabee for President

Posted by Steven in General, Politics on December 4th, 2007 at 12:54pm
MikeHuckabee.com - I Like Mike!Mike Huckabee has passed Mitt Romney and is now in fourth place according to the RCP average for Republican candidates. We’ve seen Huck go from 2% to 4% to 8% to 10% and now 12.8%. They say he has no chance. Oh yeah? Well, now less than 2% stands between him and the second slot. He’s also leading in the most important state right now: Iowa. This all from a guy with no money and no major endorsements. How do ya’ like them apples? :)
