Saved the Day

Posted by Sudi in Holidays on December 18th, 2008 at 01:41pm

Never been a HUGE Christmas person. For many reasons, chief among them, the fact that it is so comercialized. Between the gifts, the lights, and the soy nog the true LIGHT of Christmas is altogether overlooked. That is why this song means so much to me at this time of year. It is Steven’s and my favorite song from last Friday’s concert. A song about EASTER, my most favorite of all holidays!

When you think about it, Christmas is only special because Easter is coming. Without the promise of Easter, Christmas is meaningless.

The apostle Paul said it in one of the most powerful passages in Scripture, 1 Corinthians 15

If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God…
For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
Then those also who have fallen asleep (died) in Christ are lost.
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?

Jesus Saved The Day, that 3rd day after the crucifixion.
He also Saved My Day, the day I met Him as my personal Savior and Lord (Aug. 28, ‘88).
This year I am celebrating Christmas with the joy and certainty that Easter is coming.

The darkest day in history was over
All was lost on the cross
Beaten, battered, bruised beyond description
You gave it all, what went wrong?

This couldn’t be the end of heaven’s story
’cause you came to save, to beat the grave
Three days and now they’re looking for your body
But you were gone, and now I know

You saved the day
The day you rolled the stone away
The empty grave is there to say You reign
You saved the day
You tore the holy veil away
You opened wide the prison gates
You saved the day

Rescued from the shackles of my failure
In the dead of night, you shined your light
Your gift of love is hope that springs eternal
And because of you, all things are new

Oh god, you rescued me
From my iniquities
Your gift of love is hope that springs eternal
And because of you, all things are new

Early Christmas Gift

Posted by Sudi in Fun, General, Holidays, Places, Seminary on December 13th, 2008 at 03:17pm

Sweet Blessings came early! Steven gave me a wonderful Christmas gift. Took me to a Phillips, Craig and Dean concert. WOW! AMAZING.

Been a long time fan and had never heard them LIVE. It all started with Italian for dinner. The concert was 3 hours long. My baby-love also got me 2 CDS. Great Splurge! We have been listening non-stop.

These guys are not your average celebrities, although they are incredibly talented and very successful. Every song they write turns into a hit and all churches in American sings their songs. Nevertheless the guys are not the stars of the show, the STAR is JESUS. They make that very clear.

All three of them are pastors, husbands and fathers. And on the side they manage to travel around the world and usher millions into the presence of the KING.

The icing on the cake was that our good friends from the Seminary, Merrie and Andy were there. We left the concert together and grabbed some coffee. Got back at midnight, right before the Corolla turns into a pumpkin.

The concert was a glimpse of HEAVEN. It was loud, it was joyous, it was fun, it was majestic…..it was all about Jesus.

Thank you Santa Baby, for a beautiful Christmas gift. You went all out! :)

Mom, Dad and Dan visited us in Texas for Thanksgiving this year. We had a delicious vegan feast and spent some time in the town of Granbury. Here are some pictures.
