This was taken by Sergeant C. P. Devos of the Royal Flying Corps in 1917 or 1918. Benbrook was a training camp during World War I. There are more old Benbrook pictures from Deseronto Archives on flickr.

Hi , interesting about your city’s history. It reminds me of my dad moving me and mom to el cajon in 1942 when I was two. He was worried the Japanese would bomb san diego and they were lliving in ocean beach. Where we lived in el cajon was an army camp down the street and mom used to walk with me near it. My chemo is going well….each time is easier and I only need one more treatment of chemo, then I start radiation. The nurses and my oncologist are great and caring and especially the prayers of you both wonderful people and other friends and relatives. Love, aunt Marilyn
