Happy Thanksgiving

Posted by Sudi in Church, Family, Fun, General, Holidays, Home on November 21st, 2007 at 02:37pm

Join me in singing

“When I think about the Lord,
How He saved me
How He raised me
How He filled me
With the Holy Ghost
How He healed me
To the utter most

When I think about the Lord,
How He picked me up
And turned me around
How He placed my feet
On solid ground

It makes me wanna shout
“Hallelujah, Thank you Jesus
Lord You’re worthy
Of all the Glory,
And all the Honor
And all the praise.

It makes me wanna SHOUT!!!!”

Happy Thanksgiving

Miss and Love

Posted by Sudi in Church, Family, General, Home, Places, Seminary on November 17th, 2007 at 04:32pm

You haven’t heard from me in a while. I’m busy living my dream. I’m a Full Time student. All thanks to my Baby-Love. One of these days I’m going to write a deep entry about life as a seminarian. One of these days when I don’t have hundreds of pages to read.

True story, I’ve been working like mad to get ahead on my reading, yesterday I finished a 900 page commentary on 1st. Corinthinas. Excellent by the way! I love that class. I finished the last chapter and walked to my computer with a huge sense of accomplishment to check my email and I found the syllabus for an Intensive class I’m taking in Januray. A real breeze!, only 4 books to read and 5 papers to write in the next 35 days. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So as I was saying, one of these days when I have time, I will write about deep matters and the things I’m learning.

For now something light…

What I MISS The Most About San Diego: (Things that I really miss, it hurts thinking about them)

Our Family -There was something very comforting about having mom and dad 20 minutes away, now it is 20 hours.
Our Church- Best church and pastor in the world, irreplaceable.
En Fuego- Best Fajitas ever… so many great memories.
La Jolla- Our favorite place.

What I LOVE About Living In Texas:

Seminary- Going to Class is the best feeling, like a fish in the water.
Slower Pace-Things are quiet here and life is peaceful.

So many things to be thankful for.
God is Good…All the Time!

The Blackhawk

Posted by Sudi in Church, Fun, Holidays, Photography on July 4th, 2007 at 09:09am

On July 1st our church held our annual God and Country Celebration service. It was a beautiful service as all the veterans that have served on all wars were invited to come forward to receive a medal of appreciation. While the choir and a male quartette sang “You Lift Me Up”, the congregation gave them a standing ovation.

We also saw the presentation of the Flag and the Flag Folding Ceremony, something I had never seen before, it was very solemn.

As a special surprise our Pastor invited a Blackhawk helicopter to land on our softball field and we were invited to take a little tour of the plane, meet the pilots and get our pictures taken. Being the obsessive-compulsive-photography-family that we are, we were the first ones in line on Sunday morning. They turned out really nice and it was a special gift to me since this is my first 4th of July as a US citizen and also because we might never have this unique opportunity ever again.

Logan Elementry Extreme Makeover

Posted by Sudi in Church, Photography on March 24th, 2007 at 07:38pm

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

The day our church had been waiting for finally arrived, today 600 servants from Shadow Mountain Community Church went down to Logan Elementary and gave it a much needed makeover. Steven and I were part of both the Makeover Registration and the Celebration Registration Teams, we also did a bit of cleaning and I walked around with Steven while he took over 400 shots of “Servants in Action”. After the Makeover, we went to the adjacent park and had a huge party, there were six astro jumps, live music, clowns with baloons and lots of food, including 3,000 hamburgers, 3,000 hot dogs, cinnamon rolls, sugar and chocolate chip cookies, chips, cokes and water. Feed The Children delivered 800 boxes of food and 800 boxes of essentials to each family plus our church gave each family a Bible as well.

The Mayor of San Diego was there, which was a nice surprise and Fox News was there to cover the event.

It was an incredible day, a wonderful opportunity to show this community the unconditional and generous LOVE of Jesus.

To Him be all the Glory!

The Signs Of Life

Posted by Sudi in Church, Fun, Holidays, Photography, Places on February 26th, 2007 at 01:13pm

Our church just embarked in The Forty Days of The Signs Of Life. The campaign is meant to be like a mirror showing us all how we’re doing as Christians. We are going to learn what the signs of a vibrant Christian faith are. Our pastor, David Jeremiah wrote a book with 40 daily readings for us to study for the next 40 days, the reading began yesterday. Steven and I loved it, it’s very practical and biblically sound. Church was so much fun, you could feel the buzz and the excitement.

The Five Signs of Life are:

Dusty Shoes: Living a Relevant Life

Worn-Out Kness: Living a Yielded Life

Rolled Up Sleeves: Living an Authentic Life

Open Hands: Living a Generous Life

Outstretched Arms: Living a Compassionate Life

As a way to apply Open Hands, on March 24th we are going to give an Extreme Makeover to the Logan Elementry School campus in Down Town SD. Last night at church we had the kick off for this event. The school principal, teachers and staff were all there. Pastor St. John and Pastor Gillette have this massive event coordinated and computerized. There is something to do for everyone, furniture assembly, gardening, carpentry, landscaping, painting, banner making, administration, clean up, set up and tear down.

Pastor said, people have been asking him, “Why are you doing this?” and he tells them, “Because this is what Jesus would have us do, give and give and give to people we don’t know and to people who can’t give us nothing in return”. :)

Pastor Gillette asked Steven to take care of the photography, so that will be his primary responsibility. Another volunteer will be video-taping the before and after. When all the hard work is done we will celebrate with a huge picnic/concert where our church and the school staff, parents and children will all meet. WE CAN NOT WAIT!

God Is GOOD!

Members…at last!

Posted by Sudi in Church, Family on January 22nd, 2007 at 08:49pm

Last night we were officially welcomed as members at church. It was done during a Dessert Fellowship were Pastor Jeremiah tells the congregation where we’ve been and where we are heading in 2007.

Pastor showed a very nice slide show of the Bible distribution we did in April, to our surprise most of the pictures shown were pictures Steven took and submitted right after the event. It was so exciting to see his great photography up on giant screens.

Our hosts were Jim and Glenda Parker, they hosted a table with 10 guests, we were right in the front. Two hundred and fifty new members were welcomed and recognized. It was a full house, 1,500 people. All that to say it was a memorable and very special evening.

Bumper Stickers: “Coexist”, B.I.B.L.E.

Posted by Steven in Church, General on December 31st, 2006 at 05:24pm

We saw two bumper stickers today. I’m an idealist but I also recognize that you can’t possibly accept multiple contradictory truths. I made a graphic out of these two stickers to illustrate this point. Truth is truth, period. Relative truth is illogical. I started to wonder why people buy into this kind of thinking then I remembered that not so long ago I did too. The Bible says the truth will set you free. When you read the Bible and believe that Jesus died to save you from the punishment of your sins (God is just), at that moment, you know the truth and you have been set free. Aside from having the gift of eternal life, you are also able to instantly discern that bumper stickers such as this are fallacies.
